PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is the world’s top first-person shooter (FPS) video game with 20 million copies sold within nine months after its release in December 2017.

According to SensorTower, PUBG Mobile is the highest-grossing game during the first nine months of 2020 and has generated more than $2 billion in revenues.

It is one of the most popular game and has been downloaded over 100 million times on the Google Play Store.

If you are a gamer you might know that already and probably playing it as we speak. But do you know how PUBG became a real sensation! Which marketing strategies made it so successful and powerful in the E-gaming world.

In the next few minutes, you would find why PUBG is growing and getting a higher number of downloads each day until now.

1.Perfect idea Germination and understanding of Audience

PUBG games begin with parachuting 100 players on to a virtual island where teams of four fight each other to the death until only one team is left alive. It includes all kinds of awesome vehicles, weapons, and supplies for eliminating the other players.

The game is designed by Brendan Greene and developed by PUBG Corporation.in Dec 2018, Tencent company built the mobile versions of the game and released it on Apple App Store and Google Play.

PUBG game has a responsive design and is easily accessible on every device be it PC, Android, or iOS. The bonus point is that it allows gamers to share their achievements on social media platforms like leaderboards, etc. This achievement sharing by users makes the game popular by word-of-mouth marketing.

2.Secured Game Execution:

The game was launched just for Canadian users to eliminate the errors that may appear and test the game and to see how the audience will receive the mobile version

Even though the game was so popular on the desktop, the team behind PUBG didn’t want to take any risks and launched the game just for the users in Canada. The scope was to test the game and to see how the audience will receive the mobile version, The game was in the beta test for just a week before its worldwide release. It was first launched in China and soon it was released for users in the United States and other 122 regions.PUBG got benefitted due to its Launching on both platforms. This decision allowed Android and iOS users also to enjoy PUBG Mobile at the same time. Presently, the goal of the PUBG team has shifted to sustaining growth through the creation of viral content.

3.Balanced Monetization Strategy:-

PUBG is free to download within app purchase items that are available for purchase in return for real cash. This in app purchase model doesn’t affect the gameplay of the user due to its budget. Players can enjoy it even if they don’t pay or pay.PUBG also engages its players with rewards and challenges them with tournaments.

4.Combination of Mobile and PC:-

PUBG developers team decided to create an Android emulator for the computer which allows users to play PUBG Mobile using mouse and keyboard. It makes users enjoy the adventure with other gamers who use the emulator.

5. Disruption trigger:-

PUBG forces gamers to move within a continuously shrinking area and failure to do so means that gamers will be killed by the game itself. This eliminates wait-and-stalk tactics and creates a dilemma for players in their “I have to keep moving” vs “stay in place” instincts.

The game involves a continuously shifting objective and has added a novel twist to their game to ensure that all strategies will carry some risks.

Conclusion:-

The game has become insanely popular due to its idea of fittest of survival, simple playing mechanism, significant Add ons like weapons, etc., and balanced monetization strategy.

There are many other factors like availability of in-app chat features and many more factors are there to be discussed, We have discussed a brief about reasons for PUBG’s popularity,

To develop a game like PUBG, One should always hire an experienced and best game development company.
